Kaleiçi is surrounded by horseshoe-shaped inner and outer walls, a large part of which has been destroyed and lost over time. These walls are a collective work of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods. The walls feature 80 towers. Inside the walls, there are approximately 3,000 houses with tiled roofs. The characteristic structures of these houses not only provide insight into Antalya’s architectural history but also perfectly reflect the lifestyle, traditions, and customs of the region.
